  • Chris Reeves joined Montgomery | Amatuzio as a partner in 2025, bringing more than two decades of experience investigating, arbitrating, and litigating tort, regulatory, environmental, product liability, and toxic/mass tort actions nationwide at both the trial and appellate levels. His experience includes representing clients in the education, law enforcement, medical, oil and gas, technology, and energy industries. He has appeared before administrative, trial, and appellate courts in matters involving due process, civil liberties, OSHA violations, employment, insurance, personal injuries, and contract disputes. Over the course of his career, Chris has served as lead counsel in nearly forty jury trials to verdict. Prior to entering practice, Chris clerked for Chief Administrative Law Judge Ronnie A. Yoder at the United States Department of Transportation, where he was responsible for handling violations of the DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations.

Chris routinely represents clients in disputes involving exposures in excess of $100 million, working closely with local, national, and international counsel and clients to seek a prompt resolution of business disputes and litigation. He has been local, regional, and national counsel for clients faced with pattern and multi-district litigation. He also acts as outside corporate counsel to growing and established companies, providing support for a range of business legal needs.

Chris is also appellate counsel and monitoring counsel for a range of matters. He appears routinely before the Colorado, Georgia, and Wyoming state and federal appellate courts. Chris is often asked to provide testimony before the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado General Assembly, and the Senate on proposed rules and legislation related to the rules of evidence, civil torts, and business compliance. He is active in Colorado’s judicial selection system, including interviewing and advising the Governor on candidates for appointment to the bench.

Chris is a past president of Colorado’s civil defense bar, the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association. He remains active in multiple legal organizations, serving on the boards of the Colorado Judicial Institute and the Faculty of Federal Advocates, and as a committee member for both the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado LGBTQ Bar Association. His bar involvement focuses on improving attorney well-being and advancing diversity initiatives within the legal profession and judiciary. He also frequently teaches high school civics classes alongside appellate and federal judges through Colorado’s “Our Courts” program. Chris has been recognized with the Exceptional Performance Citation by the Defense Research Institute (DRI)  and has been selected as a Super Lawyer in both Georgia and Colorado.

Chris is a certified litigation management professional through Claims Litigation Management. He has published in law reviews and other legal publications and frequently lectures on a wide range of legal topics. He also regularly volunteers with the Colorado Bar Association’s Federal Pro Se Clinic, providing free legal advice to unrepresented litigants. Additionally, he has volunteered for various legal organizations, including Georgia’s Death Penalty Project, where he successfully represented mentally handicapped inmates before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Outside the office, Chris is a proud single parent to his young, adopted son. He enjoys the numerous outdoor activities Colorado offers and otherwise is an avid traveler.  He and his son are licensed scuba divers who dive around the world with bull, tiger and hammerhead sharks. Passionate about mental health issues and foster children, Chis also volunteers his time and is on the board of a mental health institute that provides mental health, education, and housing to foster children without a home.
