Government

We have extensive experience defending states, counties, municipalities, and their employees and appointees in a wide range of civil rights and tort actions brought under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act. Our government defense work has included claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, premises liability incidents, alleged defective highway and street construction, wrongful death claims, wrongful arrest, use of force allegations, and other matters involving alleged malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance by public employees.

We also represent and defend school districts, child placement organizations, and other quasi-governmental entities where the protections of the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act apply.

In addition, we routinely advise and defend clients in claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, workplace retaliation, hostile work environment allegations, and workplace injury disputes. We defend private security companies facing claims of false arrest, excessive force, kidnapping, and wrongful detention, and represent clients in matters involving allegations of racial profiling and discrimination in security and employment contexts. We frequently represent co-defendants alongside governmental entities in these types of actions.

Our goal is to deliver strategic, effective defense for public entities, quasi-governmental organizations, and their partners facing high-risk claims. We work to resolve disputes efficiently, protect our clients' reputations, and preserve their long-term interests. When necessary, we are prepared to defend our clients aggressively through trial and appeal.
