Jackie Thompson joined Montgomery | Amatuzio in 2022, where she focused her practice on insurance defense litigation involving personal injury, premises liability, insurance bad faith, and coverage disputes. After expanding her experience in commercial and construction litigation, Jackie returned to the firm in 2026 to continue representing businesses, individuals, and insurers in high exposure and complex civil matters throughout Colorado and Wyoming.
Over the course of her career, Jackie has practiced at regional and national law firms, representing clients in a wide range of complex litigation. She has handled commercial disputes, construction defect claims, catastrophic injury matters, and other high stakes civil cases. Early in her career, she also gained experience in multidistrict litigation and class action matters involving sophisticated corporate clients, including Fortune 500 companies across a variety of industries. That experience provided a strong foundation in large-scale discovery, dispositive motion practice, strategic case evaluation, and trial preparation.
Jackie represents clients through every stage of litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and arbitration. Her practice includes preparing and arguing dispositive motions, managing complex discovery, taking and defending depositions, performing coverage analyses, participating in mediations, and preparing cases for trial and arbitration. She has successfully represented clients in high exposure matters involving multiple parties, competing liability theories, significant damages claims, and complex factual and legal issues. Jackie also successfully defended a general contractor in an arbitration that resulted in a complete defense award, along with an award of attorneys' fees and costs.
Recognizing that litigation decisions often carry significant business and personal consequences, Jackie works closely with her clients to develop litigation strategies that align with their goals, risk tolerance, and broader business objectives. She believes effective advocacy requires not only strong legal analysis and persuasive written advocacy, but also practical judgment, proactive communication, and thoughtful case evaluation. Whether a matter is best resolved through dispositive motion practice, negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, or trial/arbitration, Jackie focuses on delivering efficient and client-centered outcomes while helping clients navigate unfamiliar and challenging situations with confidence.
Jackie’s legal writing and analytical skills were strengthened through her service as a teaching assistant for Advanced Legal Writing and Civil Procedure at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and as a judicial extern for former Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Nancy E. Rice.
Outside the office, Jackie is an avid pickleball player who also enjoys yoga, gardening, and spending time with her two Yorkies, Augustus and Cassius. A fan of Adam Sandler's films, one of her favorite travel memories is meeting him during a trip to her favorite destination, Maui.
