  • Justin Mankin joined Montgomery | Amatuzio in 2017 out of law school and became a partner in 2023. His practice is focused on civil litigation, risk analysis, and insurance coverage. He represents a diverse client base, including Fortune 500 companies and national insurers, regional hotel chains and restaurants, small businesses, and individuals.

Justin’s practice spans the spectrum of litigation, from general negligence and personal injury claims to complex cases involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and trucking accidents. His experience includes handling fetal injury and death claims, civil homicide defense, and carbon monoxide poisoning cases. Additionally, he has served as counsel for more than fifty rideshare operators, providing strategic defense in multimillion-dollar litigation.

Beyond these areas, Justin specializes in representing insurance companies in uninsured and underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) claims, commercial property damage disputes, and bad faith claims under C.R.S. §§ 10-3-1115 and 10-3-1116. He regularly advises and defends national carriers in matters involving general liability, professional liability, errors and omissions, and business-owner policies. He also has significant experience prosecuting declaratory relief actions to resolve coverage disputes in state and federal courts.

Recognizing that each case presents distinct challenges, Justin tailors strategies to align with his clients’ unique goals. Whether through dispositive motions, mediation, arbitration, or trial, he is committed to delivering results that are both effective and client-focused. For Justin, the most rewarding aspect of practicing law is helping good people navigate difficult situations.

Justin frequently presents to insurance carriers on the evolving landscape of claims handling and bad faith, particularly in light of recent appellate decisions. He has also spoken at law schools on the complexities of the rideshare and gig economies. Beyond his civil defense work, he provides pro bono assistance to tenants facing landlord disputes and is an active member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association.

Outside the office, Justin enjoys golfing, traveling, live music and comedy, and the outdoors. He is an avid football and college basketball fan and has enjoyed traveling to watch his obscure mid-major alma mater compete in three consecutive NCAA tournaments. For better or worse, Justin can quote most episodes of Seinfeld from memory.
