| Summer Associates

We have developed a competitive and immersive Summer Associate Program designed to provide future attorneys with hands-on exposure to the real-world practice of law, including aspects not emphasized in law school. This compensated eight- to twelve-week program takes place during the summer and is designed for rising 2Ls and 3Ls from accredited law schools who will sit for the Colorado Bar Examination after graduation.

Summer associates work closely with our attorneys and partners across a broad range of practice areas and active cases. Assignments focus on legal research and drafting in both litigation and advisory contexts, providing direct exposure to the practical application of core legal competencies such as torts, contracts, legal writing, civil procedure, and evidence. Participants are also introduced to our specialized practice areas, which span more than thirty distinct disciplines.

In addition to substantive legal work, the program provides foundational exposure to the professional and ethical responsibilities of client service, including limited experience with law firm timekeeping practices. A meaningful portion of each summer associate’s time is spent observing attorneys in court appearances, depositions, client meetings, mediations, and internal strategy discussions, all under the guidance of experienced attorneys and partners.

The Summer Associate Program is best viewed as a multi-week interview. It offers law students meaningful training and insight into our practice while allowing us to get to know potential future colleagues. Our goal is to create an experience that is collaborative, educational, and engaging.

Summer associates must be present in our Denver office and will be fully integrated into our firm culture. In addition to formal training and mentorship, participants are invited to attend firm events and social gatherings, providing an authentic view of the professional environment we foster.

The application window for the Summer Associate Program runs from January 1 through April 15, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume, cover letter, and short writing sample below. Law school transcripts are welcome but not required. All inquiries will be held in confidence. This is not a formal job posting, but an overview of our program and work environment.
