Yana Durell joined Montgomery | Amatuzio in 2025 as a Senior Attorney. She began her legal career in Phoenix, Arizona, serving as an “Of Counsel” attorney for two law firms, where she handled criminal defense, personal injury, and insurance defense matters. In 2014, Yana relocated to Denver, Colorado, and joined an insurance defense firm as an associate. In this role, she represented local and national businesses, as well as individuals, in a wide range of civil defense litigation throughout Colorado.
Yana focuses her practice on civil defense, representing clients in matters involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, product liability, and appellate issues. She has successfully managed high-exposure cases involving catastrophic injuries in both state and federal courts. Her experience includes defending clients against multiple lawsuits, including those involving punitive damages and claims under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, and civil conspiracy allegations. Yana has a proven track record in motion practice, having secured dismissals through dispositive motions and appellate briefs that resulted in the complete resolution of claims against her clients.
Dedicated to delivering effective legal representation with a personal touch, Yana develops litigation strategies tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client. Her commitment is grounded in the belief that every client deserves the best possible representation. In addition to her legal practice, Yana is an active member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association.
Yana plays violin and piano and enjoyed performing live in her past life. She met the Beastie Boys at a house party in Dumbo, New York City, in late 1990s, and served Japanese food to Bjork, Paul McCartney, and members of Aerosmith at a Japanese tearoom in New York City. Today, she enjoys new experiences and spending time with her friends and family. An avid hiker and traveler, she has successfully instilled both passions in her daughter, who (for now) enjoys joining her on adventures both big and small.
